Ninja Warrior is BACK in 2024!
The monthly Ninja Warrior competitions have returned to The Compound in 2024 and what a way to kick things off!
As a gentle reminder to us all about the importance of training, Clem and his team of obstacle course designers set a group of obstacles that tested the athlete’s endurance.
Obstacle after obstacle were lined up with grip strength being the key factor to many of them.Â
For the Ninja Elite, it all started with cable reel to slack-line. That was where the relaxing ended. Running across to the main area, competitors entered the next 9 obstacle battle.
Nunchucks led straight into the devil steps. Then the peg board led straight into the silver boys, after which the wing-nuts led straight into the cannon balls and onto the lache run to X-grab.
If Ninjas had anything left, the next brutal obstacle was the cliff-hanger. This is where many ninjas came unstuck. Battling through everything before this point was tough and for some, it was the more than adequate 5 minute time limit that forced an error.
Only two competitors made it all the way through the course with Jake Baker taking out 2nd place while Tye Beadel comfortably grabbed the top podium spot. But we can’t go past spots 3, 4 & 5 where Clem, Steve Axis and Steve Taylor-Madin each tumbled on the last few sections of the cliff hanger.
Training for Ninja Warrior
But it’s not all about the Ninja Elite, no, no, no!
3 new, first time competitors took to the Rookie course and did exceptionally well. Evgeny & Lana both completing the course with smashing times while Andy unfortunately slipped early on but more than redeemed himself on the remaining obstacles. No doubt this is all fuel for the next few training sessions.
For the class in the middle, the Ninjas, the course was gruelling. These Ninja Warriors have been training hard and, by the looks of it, many aren’t too far from stepping up to compete with the Ninja Elite.
We didn’t have much time to organise the March competition this year but with such short notice, we’re pretty happy with the turn out. It’s definitely worth noting as well, the level of what’s being achieved already this year is pretty wild. Many of the faces competing today have come a long way since their first competitions and it makes us beyond proud of the hard work being put in.
Some athletes have been competing almost since day one and others it was their first competition but if you scroll through the photos below, I think it’s clear that everyone is having a great time.Â
Why not try Ninja Warrior style training?
Going to the gym doesn’t always sound like fun but that’s where Ninja style training is different. We don’t often count reps or repeat the same thing too many times. It’s about movement, spacial awareness, strength building but most importantly, having fun. Check out our membership options or come down to try out a class with one of our expert trainers.
